Inside-Filings is an information service and not an investment firm. This page documents where our data comes from, how often it is updated, which gaps we are aware of and what interests the operator has. How the signal is calculated is explained on the methodology page.

The content of this website is not investment advice and not an individual recommendation. It is addressed to a general audience and takes no account of personal circumstances, investment objectives or risk tolerance.

Data sources

Source What we use Update frequency
SEC EDGAR Mandatory public filings by listed companies, their officers and directors and large investors — ownership and insider reports, event-driven disclosures as well as annual and interim financial statements. Several times a day in batch jobs; insider filings follow the EDGAR publication rhythm (usually hours after submission).
SEC XBRL Structured fundamental data from the published mandatory financial statements. Daily.
Public company registers of further countries Company and filing data from state registers (among others France, South Korea) for international issuers. Regularly.
Commercial market data provider Price data, beta, technical indicators, supplementary fundamental data. Daily end-of-day.
US Treasury Short-term interest rates as a market environment indicator; feeds into the CANSLIM classification of the equity strategies overview, not into the composite score. Daily, as a step in the daily scoring run.

Updates at a glance

Several automated processes keep the data basis current: the ingestion of new SEC filings and of further public registers, the preparation of the fundamental data and the daily score calculation — running several times a day and once each evening after the US market close.

Each of these processes is logged; the admin area shows when the last run took place and whether it succeeded.

Known data gaps

  • German equities without SEC reporting do not receive a composite score. We no longer operate our own price feed for the German market.
  • Delisted tickers may disappear from the price feeds. Historical presentations may show gaps as a result.
  • SEC revisions and methodology changes — as long as the methodology remains unchanged, SEC revisions are not retroactively applied to historical scores. If the methodology changes, we recalculate the history using the new procedure; historical score values are then a recalculation and not a record of the value displayed at the time. In such a recalculation the data basis for past reference dates is also not always complete, because corrections filed later can render individual figures invisible for earlier reference dates.
  • Penny stocks / illiquid securities: scoring works nominally, but actual tradability may be limited in practice.
  • Intraday prices are missing — we work with end-of-day data.
  • Fundamental data is not available in structured form for a considerable share of the securities. Where it is missing, the score is formed from the remaining components; the detail page of the security then points out the limited data basis below the signal. This note does not appear in overview and filter lists.

Disclosure of conflicts of interest

The operator of Inside-Filings may hold positions in the securities discussed. No coverage is paid for — there are no agreements with issuers, funds or third parties to favour or to withhold individual securities.

Own positions are deliberately not disclosed publicly — doing so would create a copy-trading situation that could be problematic under supervisory law (among other things as financial portfolio management or investment broking).

Affiliate links

Where broker affiliate links appear on this website, they are labelled as advertising. The operator receives a commission from the broker when a new customer signs up. These commissions have no influence on signal content or on the score calculation.
